Background and History
The song was performed by Colombus, linked to Israeli-French musician Shuki Levy (also known as Shuky). It is an English-language adaptation/cover of an earlier French hit “Bye Bye à Bientôt” by the duo Shuki & Aviva. Levy formed or performed as Colombus for the English version.

Release and Success: Released around May 1975 as a single (and part of an album on Warner Bros. in South Africa). It topped the South African charts (Springbok Radio), reaching #1 for several weeks in October 1975. It also charted in parts of Europe and Rhodesia.
Album Context: Featured on the LP Milky Ways (Warner Bros. WBC 1295, South Africa, ~1976), with tracks like “Dreaming My Life Away,” “Sunshine,” and others. Note: Labels sometimes misspelled the artist as “Columbus.”
Cultural Note: It gained nostalgic popularity in South Africa and among 1970s music fans. Remastered versions have been shared on YouTube, evoking strong childhood memories for many listeners.
